Bridal Checklist

September 1, 2010

As I may have mentioned before, I love lists and make them for everything from shopping to holidays to gift ideas so when we set about planning our wedding, the first thing I did was make a list of all of the items I needed to book or arrange.  For me, it’s the only way of ensuring something important will not be forgotten about.

I find making lists a very satisfactory way of planning any event – it’s a great feeling knowing you have it all ticked off and you can just sit back and relax!

Here is an example of a provisional bridal checklist:

** Please note that not all items will of course be applicable to all weddings **

  • Church
  • Reception Venue
  • Entertainment – for example: church music, drinks reception, band, DJ
  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Theme/Colour Scheme
  • Flowers
  • Guest List
  • Bridal attire – dress, shoes, veil, tiara or hair piece
  • Bridal party attire
  • Hair & Makeup including trials
  • Transport
  • Invitations
  • Accommodation Listing for Guests
  • Rings
  • Cake
  • Honeymoon
  • Ceremony Booklets
  • Ceremony Details including readings, readers, hymns etc.
  • Speeches
  • Seating/Table Plan
  • Decoration for Reception Venue
  • Favours
  • Paperwork – this may include marriage license, pre marriage course certificate, letters of freedom
  • Gifts for Bridal Party
  • Wedding Gift List

Please let me know if you think I’ve forgotten something important which is entirely possible or if you have any other thoughts?

Excellent list! Just spotted your mention of favours. Heard a great idea on the radio. Put blank CDs in a stamped addressed envelope for people to put their photos from the day onto. Nice idea as part if the favours. Potentially better than the old disposable cameras idea.

Nice work Emz, be nicer if the to-do list was a little shorter but it’s comprehensive and realistic (unlike my dream list 🙂 )

Thanks Lisa – it definitely would be nice if it was shorter but alas, lots to do! As I said though, many things don’t apply to everybody which can shorten the list quite a bit!
